About University Human Resources
Ensuring that Stanford is the best led, best managed university in the world, University HR supports a culture and environment where Stanford people contribute great things and experience the same.
We partner with school and unit HR professionals.
Human Resources Leadership Team (HRLT)
The HRLT is comprised of Elizabeth Zacharias, Vice President for Human Resources, and her direct reports. Elizabeth's role is to provide leadership of the human resources priorities for Stanford’s workforce and oversee the development and full implementation of the HR strategic plan. There are six departments within University Human Resources, each led by an Associate Vice President. All areas work in partnership with university leaders and human resources professionals within schools and units.
Office of the Vice President for Human Resources
The Vice President's office oversees the employment-related services and support for Stanford faculty, staff, temporary workers, retirees, and student employees and is responsible for human resources processes and administration at Stanford.
We believe that employee benefits should be more than just medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings — at Stanford, we encourage our employees to sustain a healthy balance between work and life, while building financial strength.
Employee & Labor Relations
We manage labor relations, interpret collective bargaining agreements and conduct contract negotiations and grievances, interpret workplace policies, consult with managers to address and resolve issues related to employee performance and conduct, and manage the university’s layoff processes.
Client Services supports the university community by providing programs, services, operations and information systems that further the mission of Human Resources to attract, reward, retain and develop a highly skilled workforce.
Communications is dedicated to enhancing employee engagement through strategic multi-channel communications and branding campaigns.
Staff & Executive Compensation
Staff Compensation administers pay programs for staff, including senior level staff, and serves as the liaison between University Schools/VP organizations and the Board of Trustees' Committee on Compensation.
Talent Management & Workforce Strategy
The Talent Management & Workforce Strategy team provides strategies and solutions to support university-wide initiatives that attract, retain and develop Stanford employees.
